SQE Statewide is collecting personal messages from CSU students, faculty, staff, and community members asking that Governor Brown reinvest in the People's University! We believe that public higher education in California should be affordable, accessible, and equitable. As such, we believe the Governor and the CA State Legislature have an obligation to fully fund the CSU. Tuition has increased more than 283% since 2002 as a result of de-funding (per-student state investment is now half of what it was in 1985). 1 in 10 students are homeless while 1 in 5 are food insecure. Students are working and borrowing more, while studying less. In his January proposal, Governor Brown only allocated $157.2 million more to the CSU. If we convince him to allocate the full $325 million that the CSU needs in his May revise of the budget, the tuition increase voted on by the Board of Trustees will be rescinded! Join us in calling on our elected officials to put their money where their mouths are. #325Million #FreeTheCSU
